Croesus Tramp
Croesus Tramp
On the 11th of August 2021 the class went on a tramp to Croesus. Ms Kemp and Mrs Wylde were the teachers who came with us and Andrea, Amanda, Nadia, Tim, Matt, Robin, Scott, Adrin, Paulette and my Mum were the parents. In my car I had Jack and his dad, Adrian. We went for the William Pike challenge.
The track starts in Blackball and you go into the town of Blackball and turn left. There is a sign that says ‘Croesus Track’ and you go down a dirt road for 5kms until you reach a car park. We all met in a shelter that had seats. We got given a number and we had to call our numbers out in order.
First we had to zig zag up a hill to get into the bush. Once we were in the bush it was really fun because we spread out a bit. We were talking about our pets and all of the memories we had made on the first tramp we all did together.
We also had this sheet of laminated paper with a vivid. We had to find the things that were on the sheet. For example it asked us how many swing bridges there were. After the first swing bridge I was on my phone trying to figure out how to take a photo and a rock suddenly appeared in the middle of the path and I fell over it. Breanna and I were cracking up about it for like 5 minutes.
Then the second swing bridge came along and the views were quite stunning. We walked a lot of uphill. It was a nice walk for the views but the walking was so hard! I thought that I would be able to do it easily because I walk up my hill after school most days but I was wrong. The third swing bridge came up and we crossed that and then we had to call out our numbers in order.
After the third swing bridge there was so much uphill I was starting to hate it. When we got close to the hut there was snow on the ground and the boys had a little bit of a snow fight. Once we got to the hut we sat down on these bunk beds the boys shared two and the girls had one. The bunk beds were like super kings; they were humongous. Once everyone was done we packed up and re grouped outside the hut.
We called our numbers out again and Ms Kemp put two parents out in the front. They went really fast. We all had a massive snowball fight and people were getting hit in the head and had it sprayed up the back of my legs and I loathed it. Being hit in the face would be 1000000 times worse.
The walk downhill was even harder than going up because the way I walk down I jar my knees and then they really hurt and my feet started to throb. We did a bit of running on the flat parts and I almost fell over each time. Then I rolled my ankle and fell over. It was so funny.
We got to the 1st swing bridge and we crossed it and then we had a drink and Indi was drinking some of mum's lemonade. Once everyone caught up we went off again. The path between the 1 and the 2nd swing bridge was quite different. There was a bit of uphill which felt good because we had been walking downhill for so long.
We got to the second swing bridge and re-grouped, had a drink and then minutes later we were off again. Up and down we went. My feet felt like they were killing me. This part of the walk I was walking with people but not talking. All of us were just quiet because of how tired we were.
There came a clearing in the bush and I saw the last swing bridge. It looked like it was glowing because I knew how close we were to finishing. We all caught up and I grabbed some food out of my pocket because I put some in my rain jacket from lunch. I felt really good walking the rest of the way because it was less than half an hour.
There was a clearing and I saw the cars! I was so glad we were done. It was a really fun trip but a hard one. We sat under a shelter and did the number counting, everyone was there, we didn't lose anyone. Ms Kemp had a talk to us about how good we did and then all of the people we came with said a few words about how great we all did. We got back in our cars and headed back to school.
The End
Whatif
Last night I was laying on my bed
And some Whatifs started creeping
In my head.
Whatif I became a Queen?
What If it wasn't a crazy dream?
Whatif my brother became a star?
Whatif he travelled very far?
Whatif my horse had a stroke?
Whatif I could fix him with a coke?
Whatif my dad wanted to be a ballerina?
Whatif he competed in the arena?
Whatif my teeth grew too long?
Whatif I had to file it with a tong?
Whatif I started talking Fijian?
Whatif I became a Norwegian?
Whatif I grew a really long nose?
Whatif I found out I had extra toes?
Whatif we never ever fought?
Whatif I had a really big wart?
Whatif mum started playing tennis?
Whatif instructor said she was a menace?
Whatif I caught the biggest fish?
Whatif I cooked it in a paper dish?
Whatif I married Dr Seuss?
Whatif my hat held lots of juice?
Whatif i was feeling really blue?
Whatif all my dreams come true?
Whatif if all these things are in my head?
Whatif I could make it happen with what I said?
When the Whatifs pop up in your head,
Choose all the good ones and let the others be dead.
